More than two-thirds of the Russian tanks destroyed by the Ukrainian military in recent months were eliminated with the help of FPV drones.

This was stated by one of the representatives of NATO to Foreign Policy.

What is known about the destruction of tanks by FPV drones

A representative of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization notes: the tendency to destroy tanks with FPV drones shows that Kyiv, while waiting for artillery shells from the US and other Western partners, relies on drones.

However, as experts emphasize, such a solution is not long-term if there is a shortage of ammunition.

In particular, as noted in Foreign Policy, during the use of FPV drones, there are almost as many successful attacks as unsuccessful ones.

First of all, because this type of drones have cheap cameras, which makes them difficult to launch at night or in cloudy weather.

These drones are often equipped with improvised munitions that can sometimes detonate in flight.

Another disadvantage of FPV drones is their short range – about 10 kilometers.

But, despite this, the US military leadership is already thinking about giving up expensive drones, because, it believes, against the background of the rapid pace of innovation, the future lies in cheaper UAVs.

In addition, certain experts, if compared to improvised explosive devices during the Iraq war, FPV drones have revolutionized the battlefield so far.

The full-scale war in Ukraine has been going on for the 777th day.
