Another potentially hot area: an expert predicts where Russia will attack

Russian troops continue to advance on Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region. The situation in Bakhmut district remains difficult as fierce fighting continues. However, Vuhledar could become a potentially hotspot.
What are Russia’s plans
Oleksandr Musienko, head of the Centre for Military Legal Studies, noted that it was obvious that after the capture of Avdiivka, this area would become a priority for the enemy.
– It is very important for them in terms of advancing to Kostyantynivka, and then towards Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. It is very important for them to secure this area, so they are going there. However, I think another potentially hot area is Vuhledar. The fighting is likely to intensify there in the near future,” the military expert suggested.
According to him, Russian troops are trying to develop a movement towards Kurakhove in Donetsk region.
However, the occupiers may attack from the northern flank and try to pinch Ukrainian positions from there, the analyst predicted.
Why Russia needs Vuhledar
– Vuhledar is located in such a way that the occupied territories are accessible from the south, from the east, and now they are trying to bypass it from the north through Kurakhove. The enemy will seek to push Ukrainian troops from the heights around Vuhledar, because from there our forces can threaten a major railway junction – Volnovakha,” Musienko said.
The military expert noted that this is one of the key links in the railway section that Russia is building in the occupied territories from Rostov-on-Don to the occupied Crimea.
Musienko suggested that the disruption of the railway construction will continue when the situation with the supply of Ukrainian troops improves, in particular, due to the destruction of bridges across the Kalmius and the damage to junction stations.
