Russia has destroyed almost all of Ukraine’s thermal generation and may target the NPP – Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy admits that Russia can attack Ukrainian nuclear plants.
He said this during a speech at a meeting of the European Council.

– Russia has already destroyed almost all of our thermal power generation. Dams and equipment of hydroelectric power stations, as well as gas infrastructure, are under the attack of terrorists, – the head of state said.
According to him, Russia does not give up radiation blackmail and continues to “play” with the safety of Zaporizhzhia NPP.
– We do not rule out that the infrastructure of our other nuclear plants and distribution networks is also under threat from Russian terror, – Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President emphasized the need to strengthen the air defense of Ukraine, in particular, with the Patriot, IRIS-T, SAMP/T, and NASAMS systems.
In addition, the Ukrainian leader added that the Russian army currently feels its strength in almost everything related to the armed component. Thanks to the superiority of the Russians in artillery, technology and the ability to operate in the sky, they are putting pressure on the Armed Forces at the front and are gradually moving.
– Putin now hopes that he will succeed in his counteroffensive, and the only root of such hope is the lack of weapons among our soldiers. We must tear out the roots of this threat, – said Zelenskyy.
The Ukrainian president called on European partners to show leadership for the sake of common security, as well as to join the communication with the US regarding the continuation of assistance to Ukraine.
Earlier, at the end of the first day of the EU summit on April 17, the European Council emphasized the need to urgently provide Ukraine with air defense equipment, as well as speed up the supply of weapons.
