A Russian agent who offered the Russian special services an assassination attempt on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was exposed in Poland.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine, the Russian agent’s plan was to collect and transmit information to the aggressor country about the security of Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport.

– This was to help the Russian special services plan a possible assassination attempt on President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during his stay in Poland, the Security Service of Ukraine said.

” Security Service of Ukraine and Ukrainian prosecutors informed their Polish colleagues about a possible assassination attempt on Zelenskyy and handed over key evidence in the case.

This was done as part of the provision of international legal assistance, the Security Service of Ukraine said.

Thanks to successful actions and prompt information exchange between the countries, the recruited Russian agent was identified and detained in Poland.

The prosecutor’s office charged him with willingness to act for a foreign intelligence service, which is qualified under Article 130 § 3 of the Polish Criminal Code.

On 18 April, the District Court in Warsaw imposed a pre-trial restraint in the form of detention.

The investigation is being carried out by the Internal Security Agency under the supervision of the National Prosecutor’s Office of Poland. The investigation is ongoing.
