Ukrainian Armed Forces tell how liberation of Nestryga island in Kherson region will affect the frontline
Control over Nestryga Island will significantly improve the quality of counter-sabotage measures of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.
This was stated by Dmytro Pletenchuk, Head of the Strategic Communications Centre of the Southern Defence Forces, on Hromadske Radio.

He noted that speaking about Nestryga Island, it is not about strategy, but about positional battles, so it is more tactical.
Pletenchuk stressed that any location that prevents the enemy from approaching our positions is important.
– Given that the enemy usually uses such locations – there are actually many such islands on the Dnipro River – to get closer and set up the same mortar, this is primarily important for the quality of counter-sabotage measures. So yes, this location was cleared of any possible enemy presence,’ he said.
‘Nestryga is the last in a group of small islands, followed by the river mouth.
– ‘In fact, it is our shore… In fact, such islands are mostly swampy, it will take a long time to find it on the map, but it is larger than the settlements opposite it… For some time, it was considered a grey area,’ added the head of the Strategic Communications Centre of the Southern Defence Forces.

Earlier, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said that the Kherson sector of the Defence Forces had managed to establish control over Nestryga Island. It is located in the Dnipro Delta in the Bilozersky district of Kherson region.
