Government allocates over 1.5 billion to restore Zmiivska and Trypilska TPPs

The Government has decided to allocate more than UAH 1.5 billion to rebuild Zmiivska TPP in Kharkiv region and Trypilska TPP in Ukrainka, Kyiv region.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Money to rebuild TPPs
According to him, UAH 726 million will be allocated to Centrenergo from the reserve fund of the state budget. Another UAH 826 million will be allocated from the fund for the elimination of the consequences of aggression.
– “We expect maximum efficiency in the use of these funds. The work should be carried out as quickly as possible,” the Prime Minister of Ukraine stressed.
The Head of the Cabinet of Ministers assures that the power sector is in control of the situation, although electricity generation is not enough to cover all consumption. That is why Ukraine has blackout schedules for both industry and households.
According to Denys Shmyhal, the government, the energy sector and all responsible agencies are now working hard to improve the situation with electricity supply as much as possible.
Destruction of thermal power plants in Ukraine
On 11 April 2024, the Russians hit the Trypillia thermal power plant with missiles. It provided electricity to almost 3 million people in Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Cherkasy regions.
The power plant was completely destroyed.
On 22 March 2024, the enemy completely destroyed Zmiivska TPP in the Kharkiv region with missile strikes.
The state-owned enterprise Centrenergo included three TPPs: Trypilska, Zmiivska and Vuhlehirska. Two of them were destroyed, while the Russians occupied Vuhlehirska TPP in July 2022. Thus, Centrenergo lost 100% of its generation.
