Today, during the visit to Madrid, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyу will meet with the Prime Minister of Spain.
This is stated in a message on the website of the Spanish government.
Zelensky’s visit to Spain
It is noted that the meeting between Zelenskyу and Sanchez will take place at the official residence of the Spanish Prime Minister Moncloa at 12:00 local time.
Both leaders will hold a press conference after the meeting.
Bilateral agreement in the field of security
On Monday in Madrid, Sanchez and Zelenskyу are expected to sign an agreement on a package of military aid to Ukraine worth 1.129 billion euros, according to sources familiar with the agreement.
The military aid package will include, among other things, a whole range of military equipment – from Patriot missiles to Leopard tanks, as well as a wide range of military products produced at Spanish defense factories. Unlike previous supplies, most of the weapons will not be taken from the arsenals of the Spanish army, but specially produced by the military industry.
Zelenskyу was supposed to visit Spain earlier, but postponed the visit due to the new offensive of the Russian army in the Kharkiv region.
A new aid package from Spain
The new aid package for Ukraine includes the delivery of the second batch of Patriot anti-aircraft missiles. In April, Spain already handed over six missiles to Ukraine. According to military sources, each Patriot missile will cost about 2 million euros.
In addition, Spain will transfer 19 old Leopard 2A4 battle tanks. The first ten tanks from the new batch are currently undergoing maintenance and modernization. They were removed from military depots.
A large amount of ammunition will also go to Ukraine, El Pais writes.
Zelensky’s meeting with King Philip VI
After communicating with Sanchez, Zelenskyу will meet with King Philip VI of Spain, Reuters reports.
