€977 million aid, F-16 and other equipment: Belgium and Ukraine sign security agreement

During his visit to Belgium, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed an agreement on security cooperation between Kyiv and Brussels.
He reported this on X (Twitter) .
– Today in Brussels, Prime Minister Oleksandr De Croo and I signed a bilateral agreement on security and long-term support between Ukraine and Belgium, – said the head of state.

He noted that the document guarantees at least €977 million in military aid to Ukraine from Belgium this year, as well as Brussels’ commitment to support Kyiv during the ten-year term of the agreement.
– For the first time in such an agreement, the exact number of F-16 fighters – 30 – which will be delivered to Ukraine by 2028, and the first ones will arrive already this year, – he emphasized.
According to Zelenskyy, the agreement provides for timely security assistance from Belgium, modern armored vehicles, equipment for the needs of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces of Ukraine, maritime security, demining, participation in the coalition for the supply of artillery ammunition, as well as military training.
As the head of our state noted, the document also guarantees defense-industrial cooperation, support for the Ukrainian Peace Formula, strengthening of sanctions against the Russian Federation, compensation for damages, justice for the aggressor, use of frozen Russian assets, and recovery of the economy.
– Ukraine and Belgium will also deepen cooperation in the field of intelligence, cyber security and combating disinformation. Belgium also expresses support for Ukraine’s future membership in the EU and NATO, – Zelenskyy noted.
It will be recalled that Zelenskyy previously announced that Belgium will send the first batch of American F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine already in 2024.
