Ukraine must win the war to become a member of NATO – Kirby
The coordinator of strategic communications in the National Security Council of the White House, John Kirby, said that Ukraine must first win the war with Russia in order to join NATO.
Kirby stated this at a briefing in the White House.
A condition for Ukraine’s accession to NATO
– Regarding Ukraine’s accession to NATO, let me remind you that both the North Atlantic bloc and the United States declared that they (Ukrainians, – Ed.) should win this war first, – said Kirby.
According to him, the USA is doing everything possible to make sure that Ukraine can do it.

At the same time, Kirby noted that after the end of the war, Ukraine will still have a huge border with Russia, and there will be a constant threat to the Ukrainian people.
And John Kirby recalled the words of US President Joseph Biden, who believes that NATO is the future of Ukraine. However, much remains to be done before Ukrainians can join the bloc.
– That is why the president signed a bilateral security agreement at the G7 meeting, joining what 14-15 other countries did, to make sure that for a long time the defense industry of Ukraine will be able to provide what they need for self-defense. And that includes aid from the United States. And it’s forever, – Kirby said.
A bilateral security agreement will help protect Ukraine as long as it works to provide what it needs.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the countries of the North Atlantic bloc have not yet reached an agreement on the accession of Ukraine. However, they decided on military aid.
