In Romania, on June 20, the country’s Verkhovna Rada of Defense passed a decision on the transfer of one Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.

This will be announced on the website of the Administration of the President of Romania.

Ukraine will receive another Patriot air defense system

– In view of the significant deterioration of the security situation in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s constant and massive attacks on the civilian population and infrastructure, especially the energy sector, as well as the regional consequences of this situation, in particular for the security of Romania, in close coordination with the members of the bloc, the members of the Council decided to transfer to Ukraine the Patriot system, – CSAT said in a statement.

It also noted that this donation is made on the condition that Romania receives from the allies a similar or equivalent system that “will meet the needs of ensuring the protection of the national airspace, the modernization of the Romanian army and ensuring operational interoperability with the NATO system, while at the same time it is necessary to find a temporary solution to cover the created in this manner of operational vulnerability”.

– Romania’s position is and will remain unequivocal in its multidimensional support for Ukraine, along with the international community, in its legitimate right to self-defense against Russia’s illegal and unprovoked aggression, – the message emphasizes.

The head of the President’s Office, Adriy Yermak, in his Telegram channel , has already thanked Romania for this decision in the usual manner, before writing that there will be more Patriot.

Zelensky’s reaction

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy also expressed his gratitude to Romania and his colleague Klaus Iohannis.

“This important contribution will strengthen our air shield and help us better protect our people and critical infrastructure from Russian aerial terror,” he wrote on the X network.

The head of state noted that this step strengthens security not only in Ukraine, but also in Europe in general.

According to him, by putting an end to Russian terror now, Ukraine is preventing potential aggression against Moldova, Romania, the Baltic states and all other neighbors.

– It is critically important for Ukraine to have the necessary tools to defeat Russian terror now, so that no one else has to face Russia’s aggressive actions on a larger scale in the future – concluded Zelenskyy.

At the beginning of June, the Prime Minister of Romania, Marcel Ciolacu, said that they were looking for a solution regarding the transfer of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine.
