Second Peace Summit: Kuleba explained what the format of the Russian Federation’s participation could be
The second Peace Summit may take place in one of the countries of the Global South. Regarding the format of the Russian Federation’s participation, it is unlikely that Ukraine will have direct contacts with the Russian side.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, in an interview on the air of the telethon, told where and in what format the second Peace Summit should be held.
Where can the second Peace Summit be held?
– We are really determined that the second Peace Summit will take place in one of the countries of the so-called Global South, and there are several quality strong players who are showing interest. But it is very important that the time between the first and second summits did not pass in vain – the diplomat emphasized.
That is why, according to him, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Switzerland agreed with the leaders of European, Latin American and African countries to hold thematic events in the period between the summits on each point of the Peace Formula to form a negotiating position.
– That is, there will be a lot of work going on now, it will be visible in the mass media. In order to go to the second summit with the strongest possible position supported by the maximum number of countries, – Kuleba explained.
The format of the participation of the Russian Federation in the second Peace Summit
The Minister of Foreign Affairs said that Ukraine does not want direct contacts with Russian representatives, as the strategic goal of the Russian Federation remains unchanged – the destruction of the Ukrainian state.
– On the way to the second Peace Summit, many issues will have to be resolved, in particular, how these negotiations will be structured. But we have a very successful experience of negotiations regarding the Black Sea Grain Initiative, – noted the diplomat.
He reminded that at that time Ukraine was negotiating with Turkey and the UN, and then they were negotiating with the Russian Federation, and the agreement, respectively, was signed separately with Ukraine and Russia.
At the same time, Kuleba emphasized that the struggle is being waged not only physically at the front, but also diplomatically.
– And these two paths must converge at one point, and there will be peace. Peace, after which there will be economic recovery of Ukraine, – he concluded.
