Poland’s ability to shoot down Russian missiles that fly over the western territories of Ukraine during mass attacks by the Russian Federation will be discussed by NATO allies at the NATO summit in Washington.

This was stated by the spokesman of the US State Department, Matthew Miller, during a press briefing.

Interception of Russian missiles by Poland

This was preceded by the security agreement signed on Monday, July 8 between Ukraine and Poland, which, in particular, considers the possibility of intercepting Russian missiles and drones.

Then the Polish Prime Minister said that the best solution would be not to wait for air targets to fly into NATO territory, but to try to shoot them down while they are still over the territory of Ukraine.

– For this, we need unequivocal cooperation within NATO. After all, this kind of actions require joint NATO responsibility. It is in the interests of both Poland and Ukraine – that everything related to our common security, joint actions, should bear the seal of international solidarity, in particular, of NATO, – he said.

At the same time, the representative of the US State Department says that the mentioned issue can be raised at the NATO summit “if he (Poland’s prime minister, – Ed.) wants.”

– I have no information about any changes in US or NATO policy that could be announced today, but obviously, whenever a NATO member wants to raise a policy issue, he has the opportunity to do so and discuss it with other heads of state.

We will remind you that the NATO summit in Washington, which will last until July 11, begins today, Tuesday.

Earlier ICTV Fakty told what to hope for and what to expect from the meeting of the heads of state of the North Atlantic Alliance.
