Two agreements in the defense industry: Ukraine and Czech Republic to build ammunition plant and produce rifles

On Tuesday, July 16, the governments of Ukraine and the Czech Republic signed two agreements on joint arms production at a joint meeting in Prague.
This was announced at a press conference by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
– “Today at the joint meeting, we focused on such key aspects as defense support and military-technical cooperation, government cooperation on Ukraine’s reconstruction projects, foreign policy and economic cooperation, cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, medicine, and a number of other areas,” he said.
Cooperation between the Czech Republic and Ukraine in the defense industry
The Prime Minister noted that he and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala “discussed the supply of new types of weapons to the Ukrainian army, training and rehabilitation of the Ukrainian military, and new joint projects in the military-industrial complex.
– Today we have signed two important agreements, among other agreements in the defense industry. A new cartridge factory will be built in Ukraine – the agreement was signed between Sellier & Bellot and Ukroboronservice,” Shmyhal emphasized.
He emphasized that this is an agreement between Česká zbrojovka and the relevant Ukrainian enterprise and, given the security risks, did not disclose its name. The document provides for the production of Colt CZ Group assault rifles in Ukraine.
According to him, the signing of such agreements “demonstrates a high level of interest in cooperation with our defense industry.
– “We have good prospects and hope for joint projects for the production of ammunition in the Czech Republic or in safe locations in Ukraine. We also hope to jointly repair MI helicopters in the Czech Republic,” he added.
In turn, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said that one of the areas of cooperation could also be the modernization and construction of new nuclear units, in particular, the Czech Republic could supply components for nuclear power plants.
Shmyhal also noted that 5 agreements and memorandums were signed at the meeting, including on cooperation in the fight against crime, cooperation in the energy sector and the development of the space industry.
In addition, a memorandum was signed between the Ministries of Health of Ukraine and the Czech Republic, which will see the two countries build rehabilitation centers and provide our hospitals with new modern equipment.
