American Democratic Senator Mark Kelly said that Ukraine’s decision to launch an operation in the Kursk region could change the course of the war. And he is not against Ukrainians using American weapons on Russian soil.
Mark Kelly said this on CBS .
Battles in the Kursk region
According to Kelly, Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin illegally invaded the territory of Ukraine. Women, children, and elderly people die there almost every day.
– I don’t think that the Ukrainians want to deliberately hold Russian territory for a long period, but it really shocked Putin. He has always tried to characterize himself as someone who intends to defend Russia. Its citizens see the results of what he did in Ukraine, and now they too are in some danger, – the senator emphasized.
Mark Kelly said that 130,000 Russians were forced to leave their homes. In his opinion, already at this stage of the conflict, the Ukrainians did something unforeseen that could really change the course of the war in Ukraine.
Restrictions on American weapons
Last week, some former senior officials, including the former commander in chief of NATO’s combined armed forces, General Philip Breedlove, wrote a letter to President Joe Biden calling for the lifting of restrictions on the use of American weapons provided to Ukraine. Such permission will help the Ukrainians to destroy the military potential in Russia.
Mark Kelly noted that the US periodically reviews its restrictions on the use of military aid by Ukrainians. And now Ukraine also received F-16 fighters.
– I hope that over time the Ukrainians will learn to use this weapon system better, and we will see certain positive effects from using the F-16 on the battlefield. The same can be said about HIMARS and other types of weapons, – noted the Democratic senator.
In his opinion, the correct step is the periodic reassessment by the US government of permits for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The full-scale war in Ukraine has been going on for the 908th day.
