On the night of August 21, the Ukrainian military struck the position of the Russian S-300 anti-aircraft missile system near the settlement of Novoshakhtinsk, Rostov Region.
This is reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Explosion in Novoshakhtinsk
The attack on the S-300 air defense system was carried out by units of the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in cooperation with other units of the Defense Forces.
According to the military, after the strike, explosions were observed at designated aiming points. The accuracy of the damage is currently being investigated.
The General Staff emphasizes that the Russian invaders use the S-300 complexes for attacks on peaceful cities of Ukraine, destroying residential buildings and terrorizing the civilian population.
In the morning, the governor of the Rostov region, Vasyl Golubev, reported that the Russian anti-aircraft missile allegedly shot down a missile over the region at night. According to him, there were no victims or destruction as a result of falling fragments.
However, the Rostov Telegram channels published a video of a severe fire in the Novoshakhtinsk region . It is reported that the possible target of the attack was an oil plant.
