Ukraine called on the members of the UN Security Council to adopt two decisions that will stop the terror of the Russian Federation

The permanent representative of Ukraine to the UN, Sergiy Kyslytsia, at the Security Council meeting on August 28, called on its members to consider two solutions that would put an end to Russian terror, explaining the difference between the choice of targets.
UN Security Council on August 28: what Ukraine asked for
Addressing the members of the UN Security Council, Sergiy Kyslytsia noted that Ukraine chooses military targets for strikes, while Russia deliberately fires at residential buildings and civilian objects.
– Russia is trying to destroy Ukraine, that is why it is shelling residential buildings, shops and critical infrastructure facilities. Ukraine wants to stop the violence and reduce the ability of the Russian Federation to attack. That is why we strike at legitimate military targets, including military and equipment concentrations, weapons and fuel depots, and logistics centers, – the diplomat explained.
Therefore, he called to consider the adoption of two specific decisions that will help stop the Russian Federation’s attacks on Ukraine.
– First, to recognize Ukraine’s right to long-range strikes on all legitimate military targets on the territory of Russia. Secondly, use the air defense capabilities of our partners to shoot down missiles and drones approaching their airspace, – Sergiy Kyslytsia said.
He assured that none of these steps will lead to escalation, but on the contrary – “they will restrain Russia, reduce terror and the number of victims.”
The full-scale war in Ukraine has been going on for the 918th day.
