Stoltenberg: NATO did not reach consensus on Ukraine’s accession, but decided on aid

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation has not yet reached an agreement on Ukraine’s accession to the military bloc. However, they have decided on military assistance.
He said this on the air of the United News telethon.
– We all agree that Ukraine will become a NATO member state. We support Ukraine’s movement towards the bloc. However, an invitation requires consensus, and we have not reached it yet. At the same time, we have reached a consensus on providing military assistance to Ukraine. We need to work in this direction,” he said.
Stoltenberg assured that NATO is already drawing conclusions from the Russian-Ukrainian war. In particular, this concerns the fact that the North Atlantic Alliance needs to increase its weapons stockpile, as it has been reduced since the end of the Cold War.
