The Ukrainian Defence Forces continue counter-offensive actions to deter Russian troops, push them back from their positions in the East and South, and liberate as many peaceful towns and villages from occupation as possible.
This was stated by Deputy Minister of Defence of Ukraine Hanna Malyar with reference to the latest information from the frontline.
Eastern Ukraine
According to her, Ukrainian defenders are holding back the offensive of Russian troops at the Kupyansk and Lyman directions. The Russian Federation is trying to find weaknesses in Ukrainian defences, shelling, attacking with infantry groups and using special forces, but to no avail.
Malyar assures that the Ukrainian military is trying to stop the enemy by any means necessary. At the same time, in the Bakhmut sector, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are successfully conducting offensive operations on the southern flank around the town of Bakhmut.
According to the deputy head of the Ministry of Defence, fierce fighting continues in the area of Klishchiyivka, Kurdyumivka and Andriivka. The Russian Federation is putting up a strong resistance, using reserves, but suffers significant losses.
Southern Ukraine
In the south, the Ukrainian Defence Forces continue to conduct offensive operations in the Melitopol and Berdiansk directions and are gradually advancing, Malyar assures.
However, fighting continues in the area of Staromayorske, and Ukrainian defenders are making progress and consolidating their positions. The enemy is trying to regain the lost positions, in particular, northeast of Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia region, but is not successful.
