The Ukrainian defenders released the other day are now being rehabilitated in several secret places. Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, who visited the men, told about the terrible torture in Russian captivity in a commentary to ICTV host Vadym Karpyak on the air of the national telethon.
According to him, the Russians did everything to break our military, but they failed – everyone is optimistic and believes in our victory.
– We record that almost everyone was tortured, physically and psychologically abused. So we legally investigate every fact. I hope this will become an integral part of the case at the International Criminal Tribunal, – he stressed.
The ombudsman specified that it will be a lawsuit against the Russian Federation: against both the top military and political leadership and individual members of the Russian army who are now being identified.
– Even from the photo, you can see that the guys are exhausted. But when I call the number of kg, they lost in four months…I talked to a man today who lost 63 Kg. The day before yesterday, as soon as the exchange took place, I spoke to a man who had lost 70 Kg. And these are not rare occurrences. This was a systemic thing when everyone was kept hungry, – said Lubinets.
People released from captivity have a long rehabilitation ahead of them, including psychological, because they were kept in solitary confinement for 120 days and have to learn to communicate again.
– This is already recognized as torture. I’m not even talking about beatings, electric shocks, electricity, etc., – said Lubinets.
