Grain negotiations: the parties agreed to establish a coordination center in Istanbul

On July 13, the delegations of Ukraine, Turkey, Russia and representatives of the UN held talks in Istanbul to resolve the issue of unblocking the export of Ukrainian grain by sea.
There are no concrete agreements yet, only a coordination center has been created in Istanbul, the head of the Turkish Defense Ministrу, Hulusi Akar, said.
– Based on the results of the meeting, which took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere, the main technical issues were agreed upon, such as the creation of a coordination center in Istanbul, where representatives of all parties will be present, joint control at the ports of departure and arrival, ensuring the safety of navigation on the departure routes, – he clarified.
According to him, the Ukrainian and Russian delegations will meet again in Turkey next week. All details will be agreed upon at this meeting.
UN Secretary General António Guterres saw a critical step in the negotiations in Istanbul regarding the export of grain, as he stated at a briefing.
He emphasized that more technical work will be needed to materialize this progress, but the momentum is clear.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, said that Ukraine is ready to export grain to the international market, and negotiations on unblocking supplies are currently at the final stage.
According to him, it is necessary to resolve security issues related to Russia’s position.
