Wagner’s PMC is registered in the Russian Federation: why does Prigozhin need it?

Evgeny Prigozhin, the owner of Wagner’s private military company, obviously wants to get the maximum commercial benefit from his PMC and further legitimize it.
This is how the intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain reacted to the appearance of data about Wagner’s PMC in the Unified State Register of the Russian Federation.
According to British intelligence, Wagner’s fake paramilitary group was officially registered as a legal entity on December 27, 2022.
According to data contained in the Unified State Register of the Russian Federation, the group stated that its main activity is management consulting, without mentioning anything about “combat merit”.
– It is not yet clear how the organization of the Wagner PMC Center will manage paramilitary activities, – the British Ministry of Defense notes.
By the way, private military companies are still illegal in Russia, despite a long debate on reforming the law.
– Therefore, the registration of the Wagner PMC is a continuation of the extremely rapid development of the group’s traditionally opaque public profile, – the intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain states.
After all, it was only in September 2022 that Prigozhin admitted to founding Wagner, and within a month he opened the headquarters in St. Petersburg.
Wagner’s owner, according to British intelligence, is believed to have funded his organization in part through inflated government contracts awarded to his other companies.
– It can be almost certainly stated that up to 50,000 Wagnerites are currently fighting in Ukraine, and the PMС itself has become a key component of the Russian Federation’s forces in Ukraine, – added the British intelligence.
