In France, a villa of a Russian oligarch worth 23 million euros, located in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat in the southeast of the country, was seized and its resale was blocked.
This is reported by Le Monde.
It is said that the villa was arrested at the request of the magistrates of the National Jurisdiction for the Fight against Organized Crime (JUNALCO). It is believed that the house belongs to Viktor Rashnikov, the owner of one of the largest steel producers in the Russian Federation.
Three properties linked to Rashnikov on the French Riviera were seized after he was sanctioned in March last year.
It became known that the villa in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat may belong to Rashnikov during an attempt to sell it. A French financial intelligence unit has determined that a house owned by a Swiss company, which in turn was managed by a Panamanian firm, may actually be owned by a Russian oligarch.
– The villa itself and the proceeds from the sale are now in the hands of the Department of Justice’s Agency for the Management and Recovery of Arrested and Confiscated Assets (AGRASC). In the case of a corresponding court decision, they can be finally confiscated by the government, – the publication adds.
Earlier, Japan announced the freezing of assets of 73 legal entities and 39 individuals from Russia, as well as nine individuals from Crimea, the DPR, the LPR, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
