The founder of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, may use his influence in the leading media in Russia to present himself as a candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

This was reported by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW).

Thus, Prigozhin’s media resource recently published an interview with him, which visually copies various interviews with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Before this video with Prigozhin looked different – close-ups on battlefields or dynamic, but staged video clips.

– Prigozhin also used this interview to repeat his previous arguments about the need to instill a tough ideology in the Russian military and to hint that the Russian Ministry of Defense is deliberately depriving Wagner’s PMС of artillery ammunition, – the report says.

ISW points out that the parody of Putin could be used as part of a larger trolling campaign to attack the Kremlin, or to draw parallels between Prigozhin and Putin.

– Prigozhin’s recent behavior – regardless of its intention – spreads the narrative in Russian society that Prigozhin has greater political aspirations in Russia, – analysts believe.

Earlier, ISW reported that the Russian command had sent more experienced fighters of the Wagner military command to attack and capture Avdiivka.
