The U.S. will provide Ukraine with an additional $1.2 billion in long-term military aid to bolster its air defenses as Russia continues to strike Ukraine with drones and missiles.
This was reported by the Associated Press agency with reference to American officials.
The new aid package should be announced today, May 9. The money will be provided within the framework of the Initiative to promote the security of Ukraine.
These funds will be spent over the coming months or even years to ensure Ukraine’s future security needs.
As part of the aid, HAWK air defense systems, air defense ammunition and air defense drones will be financed. In addition, artillery and missiles will be purchased.
The money will also go to current maintenance and spare parts for various systems.
Including this package, the US has provided almost $37 billion in military aid to Ukraine since a full-scale Russian attack in 2022.
