”Security strip” to protect Ukrainians. The GUR told what is happening in Belgorod region
On 22 May, explosions were heard in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation. Later it became known that the RDC fighters were conducting operations in the Russian Federation. The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine said that they were taking steps to create a “security strip”.
This was reported to Suspilne by the spokesman for the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Andriy Yusov.
According to him, the operation is being carried out exclusively by Russian citizens in the Belgorod region to create a “security strip” to protect Ukrainian civilians.
– “Today, the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Russian Freedom Legion, consisting of Russian citizens, launched an operation to liberate these territories of the Belgorod region from the so-called Putin regime and push back the enemy in order to create a certain security strip to protect Ukrainian civilians,” the GUR representative said.
Earlier, fighters from the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom of Russia Legion reported that they had completely liberated Kozynka in Belgorod Oblast, and that advanced units had already entered Hraivoron.
