Putin appointed Shoigu and Patrushev to new positions

By decree, Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin dismissed Mykola Patrushev from the position of Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation “in connection with the transfer to another job.”

Mykola Patrushev was the Secretary of the Security Council since May 2008. Before that, he headed the Federal Security Service since 1999.

In his place, Serhiy Shoigu, who was the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation from November 6, 2012 to May 12, 2024, was appointed to this position.

Vladimir Putin proposed to appoint Andrii Bilousov as the new Minister of Defense.

He is an economist who has little to do with the army, defense or any military strategy. For most of his life, he worked in the civil service, dealing with economic issues in one form or another. As BBC News writes, he has the reputation of a “statesman” – a person who primarily protects the interests of the state, and not, for example, business.

Such an appointment means one thing – it is difficult for the Russian Federation to incur military expenses.

We will remind that the deputy of Sergei Shoigu, Timur Ivanov, was mercilessly arrested in the Russian Federation .
