Over 1,000 defenders remain at Azovstal, hundreds of them are wounded – Vereshchuk

More than 1,000 soldiers, hundreds of whom are wounded, are still at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol, besieged by Russian aggressors.
This was stated in an interview with AFP by the head of the Ministry of Reintegration, Iryna Vereshchuk.
– Hundreds are injured. There are people with serious injuries, they need urgent evacuation. The situation is getting worse every day, – is quoted in an interview with the French edition of the Washington Post.
Vereshchuk said that there have already been numerous attempts to evacuate people with the help of the United Nations.
Earlier, the Ukrainian authorities announced that more than 300 children and women were saved from the plant. At the same time, the military noted that they could not guarantee that all civilians managed to get out of the underground complex, given the labyrinth of underground bunkers and tunnels.
The head of the Donetsk RMA, Pavlo Kyrylenko, claims that there are still more than a hundred civilians at Azovstal, and that Russian strikes on the plant continue.
