The number of Ukrainian children affected by the war has increased – updated data
In Ukraine, two more children were injured in a full-scale war waged by Russia.
The updated data as of the morning of June 4 was released by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
– More than 726 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of full-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation. As of the morning of June 4, the official number of child victims for the day has not changed – 261. The number of injured has increased – 465 (the day before it was reported about 463 children – Ed.), – said in a statement.
For example, on June 2, the Russian occupiers fired artillery at the village of Maryanske (Kryvyi Rih district, Dnipropetrovsk region). As a result, a woman and her 10 and 7-year-old children were injured.
Most children were affected in Kyiv (16) and 10 regions of Ukraine: Donetsk (187), Kyiv (116), Kharkiv (112), Chernihiv (68), Luhansk (52), Kherson (52), Mykolaiv (47), Zaporizhzhia 29), Sumy (17), Zhytomyr (15).
The agency stressed that these figures are not final. Currently, work is underway to establish the crimes of the Russian Federation in places of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied and liberated territories of Ukraine.
The Office of the Prosecutor General also provided data on the destruction of educational institutions in Ukraine. Thus, due to constant bombing and shelling of the occupiers, 1,938 educational institutions were damaged, 182 of which were completely destroyed.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, since the beginning of the full-scale war, the occupiers have taken at least 234,000 Ukrainian children to Russia. Orphans are at risk of further illegal adoption in Russia.
In addition, due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, more than 4 million Ukrainian children were forced to move to temporary shelter in Ukraine or abroad.
