Assault on Severodonetsk and shelling of Lysychansk with Tochka-U: Situation in Luhansk Region on June 5

Russian occupiers control the eastern part of Severodonetsk, Luhansk Region, as of June 5.
The Russian military, supported by artillery, is currently resorting to storming the city.
– The enemy is trying to conduct an offensive in the direction of Nyrkovo – Mykolaivka in order to seize the high ground,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
In Severodonetsk, the Russians, with artillery fire, damaged the premises of the instrumentation and automation shop on the territory of the Azot association.
During the day, apart from Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Ustinovka, Vrubivka, and Toshkivka were also under fire from artillery and multiple rocket launchers.
Lysychansk was hit by a Russian Tochka-U missile system.
Air strikes from Ka-52 helicopters targeted the areas of Gorsky and Mirny Dolyna, and from Su-25 planes, the areas of Ustinovka.
It is known that 13 houses were damaged in Gorske, and five were damaged in Lysychansk. In addition, Ukrposhta and police buildings were destroyed in the latter town.
A woman died because of shelling in her home in Lysychansk. Two other men were wounded. After receiving first aid, they were hospitalized.
– Through unbelievable efforts, we managed to evacuate three residents of the region to another region. In the current circumstances, even such single cases of rescue are extremely important,” says the head of the regional military administration, Serhiy Haidai.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian defenders on June 4 only in the Donetsk and Luhansk directions repelled five enemy attacks, destroying:
- 3 tanks,
- 4 artillery systems,
- 11 armored combat vehicles,
- 26 units of automotive equipment.
Anti-aircraft defense units shot down a Ka-52 attack helicopter and two Orlan-10 type drones.
