The United Nations will send a group of experts to the site of mass burials in Izyum.
This was reported by the American CNN channel with reference to UN sources.
According to the publication, a group from the UN agency for monitoring human rights will go to the de-occupied city of Izyum in the Kharkiv region and its adjacent areas as soon as possible.
The source added that a war crimes investigation team may arrive after that. Now it is difficult to name a specific destination, adds the TV channel.
It is currently unknown what exactly the UN team will do at the mass burial site in Izyum.
Subsequently, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the TV channel’s data regarding the preparation of the UN mission for a visit to Izyum.
– It is good that the UN structures are already preparing a group of workers who will visit this place near Izyum, who will see and be able to report to everyone in the UN system about what the Russian terrorists did, – he said.
We will remind you that earlier President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that a mass burial was discovered in Izyum after the region was recaptured from Russian troops last weekend. At least 440 burials were discovered in the mass grave.
On September 16, Ukrainian and foreign journalists were allowed to the burial, and investigators, prosecutors and experts are working on the spot to find out the details of the murders of Ukrainians by the occupiers.
