In Kyiv, the Russian language was completely excluded from the curricula of municipal institutions of preschool and general secondary education, that is, from schools and kindergartens.
The corresponding decision was adopted at the plenary meeting of the second session of the Kyiv City Council of the IX convocation. It was supported by 64 deputies.
The deputy of the Kyiv City Council, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Education and Science Vadym Vasylchuk stressed that in the conditions of war with Russia it is inappropriate and wrong to study Russian in kindergartens and schools that belong to the communal property of the territorial community of Kyiv.
He added that language matters, and in times of war it is a matter of national security.
As a reminder, since September 1, it has been banned to study Russian in Mykolaiv schools.
From now on, there will be no electives, courses, junior classes with Russian as the language of instruction and educational environment in the city.
