Poland is expecting the transfer of about 100 tanks from European partners to Ukraine.
This was announced by Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki during the World Economic Forum in Davos.
– A few weeks ago, I spoke with the Chancellor of Germany, Olaf Scholz, and tried to convince him to do more. We will allocate our 14 Leopard tanks, and now we are waiting for Leopard from Denmark, Finland, Germany and other EU countries, – Morawiecki said.
The day before, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that he was negotiating with allies regarding the possible supply of Leopard tanks to Ukraine, but specified that Germany would announce any decisions in this regard only together with other countries.
Morawiecki said that he spoke with him about the transfer of weapons to Ukraine.
-I spoke to Olaf a few weeks ago and tried to convince him to do more, – he said.
A total of 12 European countries have German Leopard tanks, but they need Berlin’s permission to further transfer this equipment to Ukraine.
The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, said that he supports plans to supply tanks to Ukraine.
We will remind, earlier the President of Poland Andrzej Duda said that they are ready to hand over 14 Leopard tanks to Ukraine.
