The production of artillery shells in Russia does not meet the needs of the army in the war against Ukraine, so the aggressor country imported a trial batch from Iran and plans to buy more – up to 20 thousand shells.

This was stated by the head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov in an interview with Forbes.

– “A test batch was imported from Iran, and now they are trying to import another batch, not a test batch, but about 20 thousand shells. This is nothing compared to the numbers that are being used,” he explained.

According to him, theoretically, Russia can also import shells from North Korea, but there are no confirmed cases.

Earlier it was reported that Russia’s stockpile of shells has decreased by up to 30%, so the intensity of artillery fire has decreased in some areas by 75%, which is a historic low since the start of the full-scale war on February 24, 2022.
