The EU intends to transfer jointly purchased ammunition to Ukraine within weeks – FT

Ukraine could receive the artillery ammunition it needs within weeks after Brussels offered to reimburse countries that provided shells from their stockpiles.
The British edition the Financial Times writes about this with reference to sources in the EU.
All the countries of the European Union, except Denmark, joined the project of joint purchases of ammunition, said one of the officials.
– I think it will happen quickly, very quickly. And I think that we are talking about a few days, weeks, but not about a few months, – said the official on condition of anonymity.
Kyiv declares an urgent need for artillery ammunition – especially 155-mm howitzer shells. They are simply necessary to deter Russia’s offensive.
The occupying army produces four times more shells than Ukraine every day.
The European Union’s plan envisages the allocation of €1 billion from the fund, which is used to reimburse the bloc’s countries for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine.
An EU official said the bloc’s defense department will conduct an accelerated procedure for direct negotiations with a number of key industrial suppliers in Europe.
In the European Union, 12 companies produce 155 mm projectiles, Norway also produces them.
Next week, before the summit of EU leaders on March 23-24, the defense ministers of European countries will meet to clarify the plan.
