The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerіі Zaluzhnyi, said that for the rapid development of the counteroffensive, the Ukrainian army already needs more weapons – any weapons.
He told reporters of The Washington Post about it.
Zaluzhnyі talks about the needs of Ukraine to everyone who is ready to listen to him, including his American colleague, General Mark Milley.
The commander-in-chief also expressed disappointment that Ukraine has not yet received combat aircraft from the allies, because the allies themselves would never launch a counterattack without air superiority. For example, the promised F-16 fighters will not arrive until the fall – at best.
According to Zaluzhnyi, the Armed Forces of Ukraine should produce no fewer artillery shells than the Russians. The artillery fire of the occupiers is ten times higher, but we are limited in resources.
Valerіі Zaluzhnyі said that he was angry when he heard that Ukraine’s long-awaited counteroffensive in the east and south of the country started more slowly than expected. According to him, every day the Armed Forces advance – even if it is only 500 meters.
– This is not a show. It’s not a show that the whole world is watching, betting on or anything. Every day, every meter is given with blood.
Without full support, these plans are not feasible at all. But they are carried out. Yes, maybe not as quickly as the participants of the show, the observers, would like, but this is their problem, – said the general.
Earlier, the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Hanna Malіar, said that the Ukrainian defenders are making progress in the Melitopol, Berdyansk and Bakhmut areas.
