Russian troops have had a lot of time to prepare the defence of occupied Melitopol in Zaporizhzhia region, and have built 3-4 defence lines around the city.

The mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, told Channel 24.

– “Melitopol is protected from both Berdiansk and Kakhovka – the enemy has built powerful fortifications there. In some cases, these are underground cities that the enemy will use as their fortresses,” he said.

At the same time, the mayor expressed confidence that such preparations would still not help the occupiers during the Defence Forces’ offensive.

Watching now

– “Firstly, both the military and the special services are well aware of what is happening on the territory, because there is resistance and our people who report everything. Secondly, we clearly understand that when our heroic military break through the defence line, the enemy will not have the strength to hold on and will definitely flee,” Fedorov added.

Earlier, The Times reported that the defence of Russian troops at the front has begun to weaken. Ukrainian defenders are gaining important heights, forcing the occupiers to allocate additional reserves, and striking at Russian ammunition depots.
