Ex-National Deputy Ilya Kiva was sentenced to 14 years in prison in absentia

The Lychakiv Court of Lviv passed a guilty verdict in the case of the former People’s Deputy from the banned party of the Opposition Platform For the Life of Ilya Kyva. The politician was sentenced in absentia to imprisonment for 14 years with confiscation of property.
This is reported by the court clerk.
It is noted that Kiv was found guilty of committing the following criminal offenses:
- Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code (public calls for violent change and overthrow of the constitutional order and seizure of state power by a person who is a representative of the government, using mass media),
- Part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code (treason, i.e. an act intentionally committed by a citizen of Ukraine to the detriment of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability, defense capability, state, economic or informational security of Ukraine by providing assistance to a foreign state in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine),
- Part 2 of Art. 436-1 of the Criminal Code (public use of symbols of the communist totalitarian regime committed by a person who is a representative of the authorities),
- Article 436 of the Criminal Code (public calls for aggressive war).
The consideration of the criminal proceedings was carried out in the form of special court proceedings in the absence of the accused, since he is hiding on the territory of the Russian Federation.
The judgment of the court has not yet entered into legal force and can be appealed within thirty days from the day of its announcement.
Earlier in Dnipro, an associate of ex-Nardeput Ilya Kiva, who worked for the Russian special services, was caught.
