Hungary has joined the coalition of NATO member states that will deal with demining Ukraine.

This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Hungary Krisztof Salai-Bobrovnytskyi.

– On the sidelines of the meeting at the ministerial level in Brussels, Hungary signed a statement of intent with 20 other NATO member countries to create a demining coalition, – he emphasized.

According to him, the Defense Forces of Hungary will contribute to the activities of the coalition led by Lithuania by conducting mine countermeasures training.

Demining Coalition

According to the results of the last meeting in the Ramstein format, which took place on February 14, Lithuania and 20 other countries signed in Brussels the Protocol on the intention to create a coalition for demining Ukraine . The leaders in the coalition will be Lithuania and Iceland.

As part of the demining coalition, Lithuania will hand over armored personnel carriers to the Ukrainian army and allocate €1.2 million to the NATO support program in the field of demining.

Back in July 2023, Lithuania initiated the creation of a coalition for demining Ukraine and invited countries to join the training of demining personnel or to provide the necessary equipment for the Ukrainian military.
