Attacks on the Lysychansk-Bakhmut highway: Russian DRGs tried to get on the highway, but were knocked out
According to the latest data, now about 90% of Luhansk region is occupied by the Russian army. For the fourth month in a row, Ukrainian defenders have been trying to maintain a full-scale defense.
The head of the Luhansk regional military administration Serhiy Haidai told about the current situation in the region.
– Luhansk region is a rather small territory, even in relation to Donetsk. Russian troops will try to take it as much as possible, because theoretically for them it is the easiest way to reach at least some intermediate victory. The most important thing is that from the first day (full-scale Russian invasion, – Ed.) The whole territory is shelled. We hold the line of defense for the fourth month. Many of our fortifications were destroyed, and fortifications were demolished.
Luhansk region has an extremely difficult mission, as constant attacks and shelling have been going on for three months. If someone thinks that wars are won instantly or with the help of a magic wand, it is wrong. Even the same land lease from the United States comes from the West of Ukraine. He has to travel to the East of Ukraine, where saboteurs work and Russian troops are trying to break the railways. It is very difficult. We are holding this horde for the fourth month – it is an honor and praise to each hero who defends Luhansk region.
Yesterday, 50 people from Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups went to the Lysychansk-Bakhmut route, but Ukrainian defenders quickly knocked them out. However, the Russian army is still trying to shoot the highway.
According to the head of the Luhansk RMA, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are concentrating maximum efforts for the full occupation of the region, but the Armed Forces have been defending for four months. The Russian army is trying to destroy Ukraine’s defensive positions every day, – Sergei Gaidai said.
