Calls for the “awakening of Mother Russia”: SBU checks nuns of UOC-MP monastery in Transcarpathia

In Transcarpathia, SBU officers checked St. Cyril and Methodius Convent of Mukachevo Diocese of the UOC-MP for the distribution of Russian propaganda literature.
In the framework of counter-intelligence measures, they interviewed more than 20 people, including with the use of a polygraph.
On the territory of the monastery, the special services found a lot of materials with Russian propaganda. This is mainly literature authored by figures of the aggressor country and published by printing houses in Russia.
These brochures deny Ukraine’s right to independence, and also emphasize that Ukraine, Russia and Belarus allegedly “cannot be divided”.
Among the finds are the lyrics of pro-Russian songs glorifying the “Russian land”, calls for the “awakening of Mother Russia”.
The Security Service of Ukraine says that despite the ban of the head of the diocese, the monastery continued to mention Patriarch Kirill during the prayers, and even developed a so-called memo, where they argued why it is impossible to refuse to mention the Moscow Patriarch.
All material evidence was sent for appropriate expert research.
