Kakhovskaya HPP has been completely destroyed, it cannot be restored – Ukrhydroenergo
Blown up by the occupiers on the night of June 6, the Kakhovskaya HPP was completely destroyed. Ukrhydroenergo says that the power plant cannot be restored.
– According to the preliminary forecast, the reservoir is expected to be operational within the next 4 days. As of 9:00 a.m. on June 6, the water level in the Kakhovsky Reservoir is rapidly decreasing, the evacuation of the population from potential flooding areas has begun, – the company specified.
Energy experts also say that an uncontrolled decrease in the level of the reservoir is an additional threat to the Zaporizhzhia NPP, since water from it is needed for turbine condensers and safety systems.
Currently, the cooling pond near the NPP is full, the station’s Ukrainian personnel are monitoring all indicators, the extent and consequences of the destruction are being clarified.
The Russian occupiers blew up the Kakhovskaya HPP dam on the night of June 6. Currently, the population is being evacuated from the probable flooding zone. It is about a dozen villages and partly Kherson.
