An explosion in a 16-story building in Kyiv: two people died, five were injured
On June 22, at 03:45 in the Dnipro district of Kyiv, an explosion occurred in a 16-story residential building due to a gas leak. At 08:10 the fire was extinguished.
According to Serhiy Popkо, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, rescuers evacuated the woman from the house at 10:00 a.m. She is being treated.
Mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko reported that two people were victims of the explosion, three people were hospitalized.
18 residents were rescued from the damaged apartments, and people were evacuated from the entire building.
The city has already identified two boarding houses in the Dnipro district for the temporary residence of people from this 16-story building.
– Previously, the explosion caused a gas leak, as a result of which there was destruction on the seventh and eighth floors, a fire on an area of 250 square meters. Four apartments were destroyed. Now all the necessary services are working on the spot – Serhiy Popko, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, said.
The State Emergency Service reported the destruction of the structures of five apartments on the sixth, seventh and eighth floors, as well as damage to another six apartments.
Six units of the gas and smoke protection service are working at the site of the explosion.
70 rescuers are eliminating the consequences of the explosion with the help of 13 pieces of equipment.
Three psychologists of the State Emergency Service also provide assistance to people.
