The organizers of the 2023 European Games have announced that they will not allow athletes from Russia and Belarus “under any circumstances” to participate in their competitions, which will take place in Krakow, Poland.

This was reported by Polish radio RFM24, citing a statement by the tournament organizers.

Marcin Nowak, president of the organizing committee of the competition, said that if the IOC decides to deprive the European Games of the status of selection for the 2024 Olympics, the organizers of the competition in Krakow will refuse to hold tournaments in these disciplines at all.

In a statement, the organizers of the European Games said that their position remains unchanged.

– This is in line with the guidelines of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism and the Polish Olympic Committee. “We support the position of the Ukrainian authorities, which opposes the admission of Russians and Belarusians to sports competitions, at least until the end of the bloody war caused by Russia,” the statement reads.

The European Games start on June 21 at the Henryk Reiman Municipal Stadium in Krakow. The competition will last until July 2. It is expected that 7 thousand athletes from 48 countries will take part in them.

Of the 29 planned disciplines to be presented at the competition, 19 are to be used for qualifying competitions for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
