The latest sanctions came after atrocities committed by Russian forces in Bucha and other Russian-occupied areas. The day before, on April 7, the European Parliament voted by a majority in a resolution calling on the European Union to impose the toughest sanctions against Russia, imposing an embargo on Russian energy resources (gas, oil, coal) and disconnecting all Russian banks from SWIFT.
