The parliaments of Estonia and Latvia recognized the actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine as genocide
The Estonian Parliament recognized Russia’s military actions in Ukraine as genocide. The Saeima of Latvia adopted the same decision.

At today’s meeting of the Riigikogu (Estonian Parliament), the speech of the head of the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation Olena Shulyak was heard, who called this vote historically important for Ukraine, for the memory of tens of thousands of victims of the war.
– Such a classification of war crimes leads to irreversible legal proceedings – from the perpetrators to Vladimir Putin, – Shulyak said.
The document states that in the course of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine, the facts of mass war crimes committed by the Russian armed forces became known.
– The Russian Federation has committed acts of genocide against the civilian population in the temporarily occupied territories, in particular in the cities of Bucha, Borodyanka, Hostomel, Irpin and Mariupol, as well as in many other settlements of Ukraine. They consist of murder, kidnapping, deportation, imprisonment, torture, rape, as well as the desecration of corpses, – the statement says.
Thus, the parliamentarians of the Riigikogu recognized the actions of the Russian armed forces and the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation as genocide of the Ukrainian people.
The Saeima of the Republic of Latvia also adopted a draft resolution on the aggression of the Russian Federation and war crimes in Ukraine.
The document notes that the tactics when Russian soldiers bomb civilians, railway stations, civilian infrastructure, killing civilians, bear signs of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
In addition, numerous facts of abductions and forced deportation of people to the territory of Russia have been recorded. Also, the blame for the humanitarian catastrophe of the besieged Mariupol lies with the military of the Russian Federation, because they prevent the evacuation of residents from the city and fire at humanitarian convoys.
– The Russian Federation destroys urban infrastructure, stocks of grain and food, blocks the supply of food, medicine and water, – the document says.
Thus, Latvia recognizes that the Russian Federation is currently carrying out genocide of the Ukrainian people.
In addition, the Saeima strongly condemns the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine with the support of the Belarusian regime.
Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau agreed with the words of US President Joe Biden about the commission of genocide by Russia in Ukraine.
Former US President Donald Trump called the actions of the Russian army in Ukraine a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
