Russia has become the most sanctioned country: Britain freezes £18bn worth of Russian assets

Britain has frozen Russian assets worth 18 billion pounds, making Russia the country under the largest British sanctions.
This was reported by Sky News.
The publication recalled that Western countries imposed tough sanctions against Russian oligarchs, companies and those associated with Vladimir Putin after the start of a full-scale Russian war against Ukraine.
The Office for Financial Sanctions Implementation said that the Russian Federation surpassed Libya and Iran as the country on which the most British sanctions were imposed.
Thus, the frozen Russian assets are 6 billion pounds more than the amount reported in all other British sanctions regimes.
– We have imposed the toughest sanctions on Russia, and that is undermining their war machine. Our message is clear: we will not allow Putin to succeed in this brutal war,” said U.S. Under Secretary of the Treasury Andrew Griffith.
Britain has imposed sanctions on more than 1200 individuals and 120 legal entities in Russia, including prominent businessmen and politicians.
