The Chairman of the Munich Conference Christoph Goisgen said that Russia will not be invited to the event in February 2023.

– Russian officials are not invited to the 2023 conference. We will not provide them with a platform for propaganda. We want to discuss the future of Russia with Russian opposition leaders and exiles. Their voices must be heard and amplified,” Geusgen wrote on his Twitter page.

The Munich Security Conference is one of the most prestigious international forums in the field of international security.

It is attended by heads of state, governments, ministers, public figures and important politicians from dozens of countries.

The Conference website indicates that participants will have the opportunity to assess “the level of alliance cohesion and political commitment to the international order based on the rule of law”.

The organizers of the Munich Conference consider Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine to be a turning point that has caused not only enormous suffering in the Ukrainian state, but also exacerbated crises in other parts of the world.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin delivered a speech at this conference in 2007. His speech was sharply criticized in the West. He then lashed out at the United States and its allies for what he called “an attempt to establish a unipolar world,” as well as the expansion of NATO, which he said allegedly posed a threat to Russia.

Many observers see this speech as a signal of Moscow’s long-term aggressive intentions.

In 2022, the Munich Conference was attended by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
