The war in Ukraine can be protracted, its dynamics are difficult to predict – the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Edgars Rinkevičs, believes that Russia’s war against Ukraine may be protracted, its dynamics are difficult to predict, and overcoming the consequences may take a long time.
He said this in the annual report on the results of the year in foreign policy and plans for the coming year.
– Latvia consistently emphasizes that the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine must be restored within internationally recognized borders, and only Ukraine has the right to decide when, where and under what conditions Russian aggression can be considered stopped. Latvia rejects any pressure on Ukraine on this issue, – the minister emphasized.
He also emphasized that the priority tasks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia are to provide all possible assistance to Ukraine, maintain the sanctions policy against Russia, hold Russia accountable for aggression and collect reparations.
It is noted that Latvia has been providing comprehensive political, military, financial and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine since the first day of the war. Currently, the support amounts to 0.93% of Latvia’s GDP, or more than EUR 314 million.
Earlier, the Latvian government decided to allocate 560,000 euros to Ukraine for the purchase of generators for state media.
