Germany promises to make a decision on Leopard tanks for Ukraine soon

Berlin will soon make a decision on Leopard tanks for Ukraine
The decision to supply German Leopard tanks to Ukraine will be made in the near future, in any case.
This was stated by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius in an interview with the ARD TV channel.
He believes that it is in the interests of Germany and Europe to consider the decision in a balanced way, and not in haste or frivolity.
Such factors include the security consequences of the German population, because the country does not want to become a participant in the war in any way.
– It is not just a matter of supplying or not supplying these tanks, but also weighing the consequences of inaction, but also of action, – said Boris Pistorius.
The Minister of Defense also noted that Germany has already transferred 3.3 billion euros worth of systems, weapons and equipment to Ukraine. Only Great Britain and the United States have transferred more.
Pistorius also announced that he plans to visit Ukraine within the next four weeks.
Earlier, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Germany will not transfer Leopard tanks to Ukraine, which President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is asking for. Scholz emphasized that Germany can still hand over if only the US will hand over its Abrams. However, the Pentagon rejected this possibility because the tanks are too heavy to fly and require special maintenance.
The new chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Congressman Michael McCaul, said it was important for the United States to announce the supply of tanks to Ukraine, as it would encourage Germany and other countries to do the same.
