Aircraft, UAVs and engines: Japan banned the export of a number of goods to the Russian Federation

Japan expanded anti-Russian sanctions due to the full-scale war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The export of goods that contribute to the strengthening of the industrial base of the aggressor country came under restrictions.
This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.
The list of goods prohibited for export to the Russian Federation includes:
- steel and steel products;
- aluminum and aluminum products;
- aircraft and spacecraft, spare parts for them, as well as drones;
- aircraft and ship engines;
- construction machines (hydraulic excavators, etc.);
- electrical equipment and its parts, radio equipment for navigation, generators;
- optical, photographic, measuring equipment and parts (for example, optical fiber/fiber optic cable, binoculars, aerial cameras);
- toys and more.
Judging by the list, most of the goods that have come under sanctions can be used by Russia for military purposes.
The new sanctions will enter into force on April 7, 2023.
As you know, on March 21, Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida paid an official visit to Ukraine. The head of the Japanese government visited Buchа and saw the mass burial site of civilians killed by the Russian army. In addition, Kishida met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
At the end of February, Japan froze the assets of 73 legal entities and 39 individuals from the Russian Federation.
